The capacity of an HVAC system is typically designed for the most extreme heating and cooling conditions a building is expected to encounter. If the systems are manually controlled, it can be difficult to maintain comfortable temperatures when variables such as solar load, occupancy, ambient temperature, and equipment and lighting loads change throughout the day. With advanced controls, building operators can more easily maintain thermal comfort and indoor air quality while also reducing energy use and O&M costs.
